Modugno Belvedere in Agrigento
The Belvedere Modugno is a corner of the city of Agrigento from where you can admire a fantastic panorama, from the Valley of the Temples to the Mediterranean Sea. On the belvedere there is a silhouette representing the famous singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno, one of the fathers of Italian song.
Domenico Modugno has linked his name to the city of Agrigento for his civil battles for the closure of the asylum to the point that for a certain period he was also a municipal councilor. Memorable was also his "Concert not to forget" held in Agrigento in 1989 for the sick in the psychiatric hospital after the scandal.
The steel statue, painted in white, weighing 220 kilograms, was donated and placed from the “Michelangelo” Academy of Fine Arts directed by Professor Alfredo Prado. At the base of the work, on ceramic lava rock, phrases from the famous song " in the blue painted blue ", known throughout the world as " to fly ".
