Church of San Pietro in Agrigento
The Church of San Pietro is located in the historic center of Agrigento.
It was built in the second half of the eighteenth century on the site of a pre-existing religious building.
The facade it is divided into two orders crowned by a bell-shaped loggia. The first order, marked by two pilasters ending with Doric capitals, has a wooden portal flanked by four columns with Doric capitals and a truncated pediment. At the center of the pediment is the papal coat of arms with the tiara and the keys.
The interior, with a single nave, has frescoes by Giuseppe Cristadoro, depicting scenes from the Holy Family.
Today the church is part of the Temenos Space, a multifunctional-cultural space.
