Falconara Castle in Butera
The Castello di Falconara in Butera is an ancient historic residence overlooking the southern coast of Sicily, in Marina di Butera. The residence is characterized by a large central tower, initially built for the breeding of hunting falcons and is immersed in the greenery of a Mediterranean park.
The Castle dates back to the 14th century. The property passed from the Santapau to the Branciforte and then to the Chiaramonte Bordonaro.
Over the centuries it has been subject to extensions and modifications. It maintained its function of defense against pirate raids until the end of the 18th century.
The internal structure of the castle is very articulated, it has various rooms rich in decorations and furnishings, and houses objects of considerable value such as ceramic collections, hunting trophies and numerous paintings.
Today the castle is used as a temporary residence and as a location for events or weddings.
