Church of San Giacomo in Cammarata
The Church of San Giacomo in Cammarata is an ancient building of worship in the village.
The date of construction of the church is not known but it is believed to date back to the Arab era (13th century). The neighborhood in which the church stands in fact preserves forms and styles dating back to this era. With the end of Arab rule, the building was adapted for Christian worship and dedicated to Saints James and John the Evangelist. It was the seat of the brotherhood of the same name, as evidenced by the plaque that surmounts the entrance door of the church. Abandoned in the last years of the last century, the building is in a poor state of conservation and has suffered the partial collapse of some building elements.
Inside there were two valuable wooden statues of San Giacomo, now preserved in other locations , and several paintings that have been lost.
