Pietra Lunga in Castrofilippo
Pietra Lungo in Castrofilippo is a large rock located at the entrance to the city.
This place has long been dedicated to the Madonna. At the base of the rock there is in fact a votive shrine, where verses are engraved inviting pilgrims to pray to the Holy Mary, which contains an ancient painting depicting the Madonna and the dead Christ.
At the top of the rock A statue of the Madonna was placed in 1985, sculpted on white Carrara marble, dedicated to emigrants, so that the Madonna can protect them during their long journey.
