Sant'Antonio Abate Sanctuary in Castrofilippo
The Sanctuary of Sant'Antonio Abate in Castrofilippo, named after the patron saint of the village, is a building of worship that stands on the edge of the ancient Cannatone district.
The original building was erected at the end of 1600, the The current building dates back to 1923 and was built thanks to the offerings of the faithful and, according to tradition, from the proceeds from the sale of piglets.
The façade, in Gothic style, is framed by two high lateral towers: the bell tower and the of the clock. In the center there is the entrance portico with three round arches, surmounted by an elegant mullioned window. The entrance portal has 28 panels with decorated inlays.
The interior, with a single nave, is richly decorated with gilded stuccos.
Inside the church there are works of particular interest: the Simulacrum of Saint Antonio Abate, placed on the main altar; the statues of the Saints by Obletter of Ortisei, placed in the side niches.
