Clock Tower in Cianciana
The Clock Tower in Cianciana is considered a symbol of the city.
It stands next to the Church of Purgatory and is located between the two Casotti. It was built in 1908, by will of the Municipality, based on a design by Giovanni D'Angelo. It is said that he took inspiration from the tower of Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria in Florence.
The tower was built with the use of perfectly squared yellow sandstone tuff stone, in typical medieval style, taken exclusively from the district Millaga. The tower has two dials with Roman numerals, one facing south towards the Regina Elena climb and the other west towards Palazzo Joppolo.
