Licata Lighthouse
The Faro del Porto di Licata , also known as Faro di San Giacomo , is a symbol of the city of Licata.
It was built on the edge of the spur of the Regio Castello a mare San Giacomo, which no longer exists, and is one of the highest in Italy and Europe.
It was designed by the engineer Tommaso Cascino and was activated in 1895 .
It is a rotating optic lighthouse, 40 meters high and based on sea level. The terrace, which offers a wonderful panoramic view, is reached via a spiral staircase of 170 steps.
The San Giacomo lighthouse is open to the public.
