Verderame Palace in Licata
The Palazzo Verderame is one of the villas belonging to the " Park of the Liberty Villas " of Licata . At the beginning of the 20th century, the rich bourgeoisie commissioned renowned architects and professionals for their main homes in the town and summer residences in the hills.
Palazzo Verderame belonged to the patriot, shipowner and industrialist Matteo Vecchio Verderame.
The palace was built by the sea in the first half of the 19th century. The façade still shows the signs of elegance and of the good quality stone used.
The entrance hall is in neoclassical style with niches and columns. A marble staircase, illuminated by a large window that closes the light well, leads to the apartments on the first and second floors, once lavishly furnished with Ducrot furniture, furnishings and precious works of art. The vaults frescoed by Gregorietti stand the test of time, in particular that of the reception hall on the first floor.
