Ducal Palce di Palma di Montechiaro
The Palazzo Ducale di Palma di Montechiaro is an important historical building in the city. It was built starting in 1653, after the first was incorporated into the Benedictine Monastery.
The exterior is simple and compact with two large facades, one facing the sea and the other to the east, joined at the level of the floor noble from a corner balcony.
Of considerable value are the painted wooden lacunar ceilings which cover the eight rooms on the first floor: the Hall of military, quarrel and religious Orders; the hall of the Order of San Giacomo della Spada; the room with the ducal coat of arms of the Tomasi family, quartered with the emblems of the Caros; La Restia room; Trolling room; and finally the corner room which contained the arms of the Tomasi with the rampant leopard on the profile of the mountain with three peaks. In this room there is the most sumptuous decoration with the most deeply carved coffers and painted in white, red and gold.
The rooms on the ground floor house the "Giovanni Falcone" Library.
