Church of Carmine in San Biagio Platani
The Church of Carmine in San Biagio Platani, also known as the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Carmel, is one of the main buildings of worship in the village.
The original structure, consisting of a simple masonry structure with roof gabled, flanked on the right by a bell tower, it was built in 1640 at the behest of the Ioppolo family. In 1680, two rectangular buildings in neoclassical style were added to the church, each characterized by a large portal.
The current façade, remodeled in the 1970s, made with local stone, has an arched portal in the central body right in the center. The bell tower, which replaced the original one, is made up of a reinforced concrete structure.
The interior, with an apsidal hall, is punctuated by Corinthian style columns and embellished with neoclassical stucco work.
