Church of San Domenico in Sciacca
The Church of San Domenico in Sciacca is one of the oldest churches in the city.
It was founded in the 16th century at the behest of Tommaso Fazzello, at the same time as the adjoining Convent. It was later rebuilt in the second half of the eighteenth century based on a design by Ermenegildo Vetrano.
The façade, simple and severe, is built with blocks of shell-faced tuff, and is animated by the portal, a window and a ' projecting summit cornice.
The interior, in Baroque style, has a single nave with eight chapels and a large chapel. On the main altar reside the statue of the Madonna del Rosario by Vincenzo Ferreri and the Via Crucis by Vincenzo Tresca.
