Fish Market in Sciacca
The Fish market of Sciacca is the largest fish market in Sicily and one of the first by volume of business in the Mediterranean.
The market is located near the port of Sciacca, where it is freshly caught fish and fruits from the Mediterranean Sea are purchased daily.
The arrival of the fishing boats and the subsequent sale of the catch traces the rituals that are now part of the local tradition: the boats, before their return, after a long crossing in sea, they contact the "Riattieri", or local fish merchants, to warn them of their imminent return. The fish products are then placed in the iconic Moto Ape, where the fish crates are stored in the rear part of the vehicle, and thus the sale of the fish begins.
