Siculiana

State: AG - Area: Agrigento surroundings

Siculiana is a suggestive village located in a splendid position: it boasts a scenic coastline overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and an inland area characterized by a mountainous landscape.
Its origins are very ancient and are lost in myth: according to the historian Cluverio Siculiana was built on the ruins of the ancient Camico, residence of King Cocalo, king of the Sicani, who hosted Daedalus fleeing from Crete. The current inhabited center dates back to around 1425 and was a feud with the title of barony of the Bonanno family of the princes of Cattolica.
The historic center of Siculiana bears witness, with its monuments and works of art, to its ancient history.
Enchanting landscapes and wonderful beaches are preserved within the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve.
