Calvary Chapel in Siculiana
The Calvary Chapel in Siculiana, also known as the Chapel of the Holy Cross, is the place where the representation of the crucifixion of Christ is staged on Good Friday.
The tradition of the Mount Calvary in Siculiana dates back to first half of the 1600s: initially the Holy Cross was placed on another hill, but over the centuries the cross was torn down, restored and reinstalled several times.
The current chapel was built in 2003 while the cross in iron, deliberately very robust, was created by Antonino Gagliano in 1925.
