Church of San Giovanni in Aci TrezzaBattista
The Church of San Giovanni Battista is the main church of the seaside village of Aci Trezza.
It was rebuilt after the Val di Noto earthquake of 11 January 1693. The building was immortalized in the masterpiece by Visconti, "The earth trembles".
The facade is characterized by the central bell gable and the turreted bell tower on the side. The interior, with two naves, is made up of a semicircular apse and four side chapels. Among the valuable stuccos the Baptism of Jesus by Giacinto Platania stands out. Then there is the 18th century Aedicule of the Madonna della Provvidenza, the oldest of the chapels that dot the territory, and the Aedicule of the Madonna della Buona Nuova, built a century later.
