Scammacca Castle in Acireale
The Castello Scammacca di Acireale was built by the Pennisi barons of Floristella and called Castello Scammacca because it was built on a vineyard that once belonged to the family of the Scammacca barons.
It was built at the end of the nineteenth century on the project of Palermo architect Patricolo as a holiday home. The facade has battlements and pointed arches typical of the neo-Gothic style. Inside there is an elegant chapel with frescoes by Giuseppe Sciuti. There is a large garden full of trees and flowers.
The castle was the set of some scenes of the film "The Godfather Part III" and of "Malizia"
