The Church of the Madonna dell'Indirizzo in Acireale, also known as the Church of Maria SS. dell'Indirizzo, is a building of worship in neoclassical style.
It was built in 1709 at the behest of the Nicolosi family and was dedicated to the cult of the Madonna dell'Indirizzo. The building originally stood outside the city center, immersed in a lemon garden.
The church has a splendid neoclassical style façade, dominated by a large semicircular pronaos delimited by six columns. It was built in 1812, as part of an important restoration project carried out by the architect Sebastiano Ittar, son of the more famous Stefano Ittar and nephew of Francesco Battaglia. The same architect was responsible for the design of Villa Nicolosi, which stands to the left of the church, and which has a rich and spectacular layout on a hill.
Inside the Church you can admire some paintings depicting scenes from the life of the Santissime Venera and Agata works by Giacinto Platania, the greatest Acilan painter of the seventeenth century.
