Church of San Francesco di Paola in Acireale

The Church of San Francesco di Paola in Acireale is an ancient building of worship which has the particularity of having been built between two streets, and therefore does not border any building.
The original building was built starting from the second half of sixteenth century and completed in 1602 by the vicar Don Abramo Grasso. The earthquake of 1693 destroyed the ancient factory. The church was subsequently rebuilt to a design by the architect Paolo Amico from Amico, thanks to the commitment of the ancient brotherhood dedicated to the Saint and to the many offerings of the faithful.
The façade features a portal carved in ancient stone from Syracuse. The bell tower with balustrade is connected to the body of the building by two elegant volutes.
