Church of San Giovanni Nepomuceno in Acireale
The Church of San Giovanni Nepomuceno in Acireale is a seventeenth-century building located along Via Romeo, an ancient and important street in the historic centre.
The building is raised above the road surface and is accessed via an elegant staircase with balustrade.
The façade, delimited by two pilasters with a lava stone base, is divided into two orders: the first order opens up to the portal flanked by two pilasters with capitals in Corinthian style, which support a slightly overhanging architrave; on the second order there is a rectangular window surmounted by a curved tympanum.
Today the church has become the Auditorium San Giovanni Nepomuceno and hosts exhibitions and other cultural events.
Attached to the church is the former convent of San John Nepomuk.
