Villa Pennisi in Acireale

Villa Pennisi in Acireale hides within it one of the few ancient gardens that have managed to save themselves from building speculation, its importance is such that it has become part of the circuit of the Great Italian Gardens.
The garden is not visible from the outside but, beyond the large door that overlooks the square of the old station, there is an oasis of greenery. The garden, created by the architect Mariano Falcini in the nineteenth century, was once part of the Grande Hotel des Bains, commissioned by Baron Agostino Pennisi of Floristella to host the customers of the contemporary Santa Venera Baths.
Following a fire, in 1880, the building was partially destroyed, it was then rebuilt and transformed into a private residence.
Today, the garden is open to the public for visits by reservation and events.
