Bufali Palace in Belpasso
The Palazzo dei Baroni Bufali di Santa Lucia in Belpasso is an important civil building in the city and features elements in the Sicilian baroque style that characterized many noble homes in the Etna area built after the terrible earthquake of 1693.
It was built under the beginning of the 18th century and inhabited by the noble Bufali family commissioned by the prince of Paternò, Ferdinando Moncada Aragona, to provide for the post-earthquake reconstruction of Belpasso.
The building presents the typical elements of Sicilian baroque: a rich façade with elements in wrought iron, lava stone masks, the carvings, the corner balcony. The corner balcony and the arch of the entrance door are particularly rich.
