Sanctuary of Madonna of the Rock in Belpasso
The Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Rock is located in the peripheral area of the upper Belpasso. The sanctuary welcomes thousands of pilgrims every year, who go with faith before the Madonna, who here seems to have wanted to show herself with absolute simplicity.
The story sees as the protagonist the young Rosario Toscano, who had the privilege of hearing the voice of the Madonna who healed him from his illness that forced him to stay in bed due to recurrent and debilitating fevers. It was on 11 May 1986, the day he went to the "rock" for the first time, as the Virgin previously asked him, during his illness. From that day, numerous apparitions followed one another, up to the last one, on May 1, 1988.
Even today, these prodigious events are remembered on the first day of each month.
