Valle Palace in Catania
Palazzo Valle in Catania is one of the most elegant works of the architect Gian Battista Vaccarini.
Designed in the first half of the 18th century, it occupies the block between the streets Vittorio Emanuele, Landolina, Valle and Leopardi. It was Pietro La Valle who commissioned its construction, which took place over three stages and ended in the second half of the 19th century. Built in Baroque style, it consists of a shop floor with adjoining mezzanines and then the owner's main residence floor. The facade is very rich with curved balconies.
The façade fully expresses Vaccarini's creativity: rounded shelves and softened at the corners, squared geometric fields, the graceful balcony in whose circular tympanum stands the shield of the Valle-Gravina house, the limestone placed on dark plaster, the details and finishes, the imposing door, give the main façade a great elegance.
