Multimedia Tactile Pole in Catania
The Tactile Multimedia Center of Catania, inaugurated in 2008, offers an extraordinary experience in a unique environment of its kind.
It represents the natural extension of the Regional Braille Printing House, whose social and cultural integration activity of visually impaired people began about forty years earlier with the creation of associative magazines on behalf of the Italian National Blind Union and subsequently with the transliteration of editorial texts in braille, Large Print (large print for the visually impaired) texts in electronic format, also carrying out consultancy, accessible design and specialized supplies for Museums, Natural Parks, Public and Private Bodies.
The Tactile Multimedia Center, located inside a 1700s building, a historic place of timeless beauty, is proposed as a meeting point between knowledge and diversity, of which it makes its strength, accompanied by awareness and information initiatives.
A feature that makes it unique in Italy and in Europe is that of being a concentration of knowledge extended to everyone, which embraces all the cultures of the continent.
