Church of the Annunziata in Linguaglossa
Church of the Annunziata in Linguaglossa is an important place of worship in the Etna village.
It was probably built at the beginning of the seventeenth century but over the centuries it has been the subject of continuous renovations which have altered its original appearance.
The gabled façade is embellished with a valuable polychrome portal made of lava stone and red marble and surmounted by a small altar which houses the statue of the Annunciation. Next to the building stands the bell tower, with a square plan and pyramidal roof.
The interior, with a single nave, preserves traces of ancient frescoes.
Of particular value are: an artistic Gothic style organ placed on the 'high altar; two eighteenth-century sculptural groups attributed to the Neapolitan artist Gennaro Franzese.
