Church of Carmine in Linguaglossa
The Church of Carmine in Linguaglossa is one of the buildings of worship in the village.
Built in the 16th century, it was annexed to the first convent built in Linguaglossa, abandoned by the Carmelite monks in the last century.
The simple gabled façade it has a single portal flanked by two columns with Ionic capitals that support the entablature and a broken tympanum. The portal is surmounted by a rectangular window. Next to the building stands the bell tower with a square base and a pyramidal roof.
The interior, with a single nave with a barrel vault, features floral motifs dating back to 1919.
Among the works kept in the church we remember the statue of the Madonna del Carmelo, a 19th century papier-mâché work and the statues of Saint Albert, Saint Agnes and Madonna with Child, Saint Teresa, Saint Anne and her daughter Mary, the Sacred Heart and Saint Joseph.
