Town Hall Building in Linguaglossa
The Town Hall in Linguaglossa is an important civil building in the Etna village.
It was built at the beginning of the 20th century, based on a design by the engineer. Pietro Grassi Finocchiaro, as the old headquarters in Piazza Annunziata had become insufficient to contain all the offices. It was built on the site of the former Paolotti Convent which had become a hotel for the poor since 1866.
The building has a neo-Gothic style façade characterized by the presence, on the first floor, of mullioned windows.
Of particular interest Of interest are the tombstones and a painting, located in the Council Room, which commemorate the redemption of the city and the payment of the sum established to buy freedom from Prince Orazio Bonanno.
The palace houses a modern art gallery.
