Maletto Castle
The Swabian Aragonese Castle of Maletto is a fortified tower, today in a state of ruin, which dominates the town centre.
It was built in 1263 at the behest of Manfredi Maletta and, around it, the first inhabited nucleus was born.
In the previous Arab-Norman period, it is believed that a fortification was already present on the fortress as the place was well suited to being used as a lookout point. Consolidating this hypothesis is the fact that the castle was originally known as Torre del Fano, where the term of Arabic origin fano indicates a light emanating from a place of surveillance.< br>From the rock on which the castle was built you can enjoy a breathtaking view that ranges from the Nebrodi Park to Mount Etna.
