Votive Aedicula Maria SS. Annunziata in Pedara
The Votive Edicule of the Holy Mary. Annunziata in Pedara is one of the numerous altars present in the area built as a gesture of devotion, of protection from dangers, of testimony for graces received.
It was built in the nineteenth century, probably by will of the Confraternity of the same name, and remodeled several times.
It has a two-order structure with rows of columns. On the second order the columns are surmounted by an entablature and a slightly overhanging tympanum which frame the niche which houses the scene of the Annunciation.
According to tradition, pilgrims heading to the Sanctuary of the Annunciation begin the recitation of the Saint Rosary from this place.
