Pappalardo Palace in Pedara
Palazzo Pappalardo in Pedara is one of the most important historical buildings of the Etna village. It belonged to the Pappalardo family, barons of the city of Pedara.
It was built during the second half of the seventeenth century and despite having undergone several changes over the centuries it still retains some elements attributable to the time of the building reconstruction that characterized the town after the earthquake of 1693.
The façade is marked by a tight rhythm of doors and windows, some of which have fine lava stone finishes. Of particular value is the central portal, created according to the "ashlar portal on cymatium panel" technique, on whose arch stands an anthropomorphic mask surmounted by the coat of arms of Don Diego's descendants.
The rooms develop around an internal courtyard with an ancient cistern characterized by lava stone and wrought iron elements.
