Memory and Freedom Monument in Piedimonte Etneo
The Memory and Freedom Monument in Piedimonte Etneo was erected in memory of the twinning with a platoon of English soldiers of the London Irish Rifles who were stationed in Piedimonte from 8 September 1943.
The monument, in white marble , represents two Roman female mythological figures Abeona and Adeona. Abeona is the protector of departures, as opposed to Adeona, the protector of returns.
