Patanè Palace in Piedimonte Etneo
Palazzo Patanè in Piedimonte Etneo is a nineteenth-century building, built in 1820, home to the Town Hall.
Of particular interest are the frescoes that decorate the vaults of the current mayor's room, works by the painter Giuseppe Sciuti. In one of the two vaults the busts of Dante, Petrarca, Tasso and Ariosto are represented; of the panels of the four seasons with Etna as their subject; and, at the four corners, the four arts: music, painting, poetry and sculpture. In the other vault the armor and weapons typical of four peoples who dominated Sicily are represented: the Greeks, the Romans, the Spanish and the French; the representations of the four seasons having as their subject the personification of Justice represented with scales and a sword that dominates the world.
