Marino House in Trecastagni
Casa Marino in Trecastagni is one of the first two-storey buildings built after the earthquake of 1693. Unfortunately the original appearance was altered by subsequent restorations.
Original details still visible today are: the balcony with lava stone projections; the inscription on the pediment Timete Deum et Date Illi Honorem; the circular window with iron grate.
Another interesting detail is the green ceramic plate from Caltagirone with the writing Largo Sig. Marino which refers to the small triangular space of land in front of the house, which previously it must have belonged to the same owner. The plate is part of the toponymy and numbering of the town made around 1700 and of which traces can still be found throughout the ancient town.
