Church of Purgatory in Trecastagni
The Church of the Holy Souls of Purgatory in Trecastagni, also known as the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, is one of the religious buildings of the city.
The façade has a valuable lava stone portal, dated 1701, dominated by one with the figure of a skull between two hourglasses, and by a window also made of lava stone. Next to the church stands an elegant bell tower from a later period, built above an underpass.
Recent restoration works have restored the underpass of the bell tower and the primitive underground church has been made accessible in the rooms formerly used for mummification.
