Church of Santa Caterina in Trecastagni
The Church of Santa Caterina di Alessandria in Trecastagni is a rural church located in the Gaglianesi hamlet.
It was built in the 18th century and has a simple façade enriched by lava stone portals. The structure is flanked by a bell tower in which there are 4 bells: the first, dedicated to Santa Caterina, was melted down in 1712 and is the work of Gaetano Gullo; the second is recently made but does not show any date; the third and fourth, dated 1914, are used for the clock.
Inside the church, in the center of the floor there is a plaque that closes the mortuary pit of the Confraternity of Saint Catherine.
In front of the church finds a semicircular open space, Piazza Libertà, closed by low buildings with the characteristic red and white striped façade.
