Ancient Church in Viagrande
The Ancient Church in Viagrande is what remains of an ancient religious building that was never completed.
The church stood on the edge of the Indirizzo stream, now covered, which reaches the sea from the city of Trecastagni. The 1693 earthquake in Val Di Noto interrupted the construction work on the church which was never completed.
The ruins visible today clearly show how the structure of the church had three naves, with the central nave being larger. Following a recent restoration, the church was transformed into a monument to the fallen of all wars.
