Church of San Michele in Viagrande
The Church of San Michele in Viagrande is a small building of worship located in the ancient heart of the village.
The exact date of construction is not known, the first news of its existence dates back to 1731, when it was mentioned in a note from a pastoral visit made by the bishop of Catania Pietro Galletti. Important alterations date back to the end of the 18th century.
The gabled façade is framed by two pilasters which support the architrave and the tympanum with a serrated pediment. In the center of the tympanum there is a rose window. The façade has a single large portal flanked by columns with Ionic-style capitals that support a round arch.
The interior, with a single nave with apse, is covered with a barrel vault with lunettes.
