Municipal building in Zafferana
The Municipal Palace of Zafferana Etnea is an elegant building of the late nineteenth century, located on the same urban level as the Mother Church, and overlooks the very central Piazza Umberto I.
The building is a pleasant example of Art Nouveau style, with a crenellated cornice, floral inserts on the main façade and, in the center, above the balcony of honor, a stucco echoes the municipal coat of arms, with the eagle holding two clusters in its claws. grapes, placed on a medallion on which the erupting Etna is painted.
To reach the Town Hall from the square, go along a choreographic double flight of curved staircase, also with Art Nouveau lamp posts. At the center of the staircase there is a marble monument of the Painter, a native of Zafferana Etnea, Giuseppe Sciuti, made by the architect Condirelli.
