Calvary Church in Alimena
The Church of the Calvary in Alimena, located on the outskirts of the town, is located on the side of a gentle slope and is accessed via a long staircase made up of 33 steps, in memory of the years of Jesus, today unfortunately interrupted by the national road.< br>It was built in the 19th century and called the Hermitage of Calvario.
The simple gabled façade has a single portal, crowned by a tympanum, and surmounted by a circular opening. On the left side of the church there is a small gate that allows symbolic access to Mount Golgotha, in which there is a severe wooden cross.
The interior, with a single nave, is devoid of decorations.
All The interior of the church houses the valuable urn inside which lies a statue of the dead Christ, and the wooden statues of the Madonna Addolorata and of S. M. Maddalena placed in the two side altars.
In this church the representation of the passion of Christ takes place and the Good Friday procession.
