Church of the Holy Trinity in Castelbuono
The Church of the SS. Trinità in Castelbuono, also known as the Church of the Collegio di Maria, because it is annexed to the convent of the Collegine Sisters, is an ancient place of worship located along the main street.
It was built in 1769 as the chapel of the Conservatory of Sant’Anna.
The gabled façade, punctuated by two pairs of pilasters, is divided into two orders by a finely decorated string course and culminates with a pediment with a slightly projecting frame.
The interior, with a single nave, houses the canvas of the SS. Trinità from the 18th century, the work of Gaetano Mercurio, placed on the high altar.
During the patronal celebrations, the novena procession with the wax model of Sant’Anna, part of the statuary group of the family of Maria, starts from this church.
