Crypt of the Mother Church in Castelbuono
The Crypt of the Old Mother Church of Castelbuono, which houses precious frescoes, is located below the presbytery of the Church of Maria Santissima Assunta, the Old Matrice.
The walls inside the crypt are richly frescoed and depict the life cycles , passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These frescoes, in an excellent state of conservation, date back to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque.
