St. Paul's Gate in Castelbuono
Porta San Paolo in Castelbuono is the ancient entrance to the town from the northern side.
Today, of the ancient portal, only the two eighteenth-century pillars remain that once supported two cross vaults.
It is known that the Gate was placed in its current location at the beginning of the seventeenth century and that, before then, it was located at the end of Rrua suttana, the current Via Collegio Maria, the place from which the road to Pollina started. For this reason, at that time, the gate was known as Porta di Pollina.
