Church and College of Mary in Gangi
The Church and the College of Mary in Gangi constitute a single, large, religious complex in the village. They are located in the upper part of the town and are part of the same building despite having entrances in two different streets: via Castello and via Catena.
The complex was built in the second half of the 16th century, with the nuns of the Third Order and the Church was dedicated to the SS. Cosma and Damiano.
The entire complex shows various architectural details typical of the Baroque in the portals, in some frames, in the shapes of the curved handle railings. Of particular interest is a round window, closed by a 16th-century perforated stone rose window, located on the side wall, in front of the Catena church, which therefore dates back to a period prior to the construction of the complex.
Inside the valuable church is the oil canvas dated and signed Giov. Nizzolo 1865, placed on a side altar.
