Piazza del Popolo, 7 - Geraci Siculo (PA)

The Collegio Di Maria Church in Geraci Siculo is an eighteenth-century complex that defines an entire fifth of the Piazza del Popolo, in front of the Mother Church.
The college was founded in 1738 by the will of the archpriest Don Gaetano Viviano in order to welcome and educate the young orphans of the town, for its construction several houses and the pre-existing church of San Michele, documented since 1622, were demolished. The annexed church of the Holy Trinity was opened for worship in 1762.
The church has a single nave covered by a barrel vault and ends in the sumptuous altar with pairs of columns on shelves that surrounds the 1774 canvas of the Coronation of the Virgin by the Holy Trinity.
Among the works kept in the church of particular value is the wooden statue of San Michele Arcangelo dating back to the first half of the seventeenth century and coming from the disappeared church of the same name.
