Urban Geological Trail in Isnello
The Urban Geological itinerary in Isnello is a path that enters the Isnello Gorge, a place where there are geologically significant structures.
Among the points of interest on this itinerary are: the ruins of the medieval castle, the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Church of San Michele and the Gola d'Isnello.
The Isnello Gorge was created by an erosion process caused by the waters of the Isnello stream on the limestone-dolomite rocks that date back to the Triassic-Jurassic period. This gorge, in addition to its high geological interest, offers natural glimpses of great beauty.
The itinerary also allows us to see the position geomorphologically suitable for the birth of a human settlement, given the abundant presence of water and defenses natural. The first settlements in this area date back to prehistoric times.
