Giant Hollies of Madonie
Inside the Parco delle Madonie, in the Castelbuono area, the Piano Pomo path leads to the discovery of botanical rarities: the wonderful specimens of Giant holly which form a dense and dense forest. These are centuries-old trees , some of which are over 400 years old, up to 15 meters high and up to 4 meters wide, which represent a record at European level and constitute an important natural heritage.
The forest of giant hollies has been defined by internationally renowned botanists as a " Natural Cathedral": the particular microclimate created in this area has given rise to a dense forest with unusual ramifications.
