Monte e Piano dei Cervi in Madonie
Monte Piano Cervi, in the heart of the Parco delle Madonie , is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Sicily from which it is possible to observe the coast of Palermo , the Madonie massifs and Etna between Mufare and Monte Ferro, the Quacella amphitheater and the Sicani mountains.
The path that leads to the summit, not very popular perhaps due to the lack of a well-defined track, starts from Portella Colla , crosses the splendid beech forest of Piano Cervi and reaches the famous haystack of Monte Cervi, a construction typical of the Sicilian pastoral tradition made using dry branches, stones and straw, which had the function of providing temporary shelter to shepherds.
