Municipal Palace in Petralia Soprana
The Municipal Palace of Petralia Soprana is located in the main square, the Piazza del Popolo, in the heart of the historic center of the village.
It was built in the second half of the 19th century, in the place where the the hospital of San Giuliano, a single body with an adjoining church, which has now disappeared.
The building has a Neo-Gothic façade and is called del Giglio due to the municipal coat of arms representing a lily on a red background. Spread over two sides, in addition to the square, it overlooks the Belvedere from which you can admire a panorama overlooking the Madonie.
Inside are preserved valuable works including a Murano chandelier in the Mayor's Room, the canvas depicting the Dormitio Virgini by Giuseppe Salerno and an imposing Bourbon eagle in filigree.
