Church of the Monte di Pietà in Petralia Sottana
The Church of the Monte di Pietà is one of the places of worship of Petralia Sottana and is the seat of the Confraternity of the Whites. The date of construction of the church is not known but it already existed in 1570, as attested by the archbishop of Messina Don Giovanni Raitano. It is believed that it was built on a pre-existing sacred building dedicated to Saints Cosma and Damiano.
The church has a simple and linear facade characterized by the presence of the bell tower on the side of the building.
Inside it is exposed a large nativity scene, known as Petralilium in Praesepio, which faithfully reproduces some glimpses of Petralìa Sottana.
